Florence Bonadio- Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother
Florence “Flo” Bonadio of Glassport, passed away peacefully, Thursday December 1, 2022, at the age of 99. Florence was born November 11, 1923 to Mary Mehara and Frank Shadwick. Married October 10, 1942, she joins her husband of 56 years, Natale “Nate” Bonadio, who passed in 1998. She was the dear mother of the late Donna (Dennis) Frattaroli, David (Judi) Bonadio, and Danette (the late Mark) Stasko. She is survived by 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers- Barney and Joe Shadwick, her sisters- Irene Bonadio and many Bonadio in-laws. Flo was a proud member of Sts. Joachim and Ann Parish in Glassport where she was a dedicated volunteer at various events but really enjoyed working the fish frys. She was formerly employed as a waitress for many years at the Elbow Room in McKeesport. Flo was faith filled and walked to church every day until she was 90. She loved her family and we all knew that when we were in her presence. We will miss her signature red hair, her funny sayings, playing cards with her, her delicious Italian cooking and talking to her about her Bingo nights. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 10 at 9:30 am at St. Joachim and Ann Parish (Queen of the Rosary campus) in Glassport, PA. Interment will follow at Round Hill Cemetery. A heartfelt thank you to the people at Jefferson Rehab and Wellness who helped Flo through some difficult years, but especially her hospice nurse, Sherry and aide, Heather, from Caring Hospice, who showered her with compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Flo’s memory to Sts Joachim and Ann Parish, 530 Michigan Ave. Glassport, PA 15045.
