Joel T. Mance, 64, of North Huntingdon, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022. He was born October 28, 1958 a son of the late Thomas V. and Mildred (Gongaware) Mance. Joel was a 1976 graduate of Norwin Sr. High School and attended Penn State University prior to starting his career as a traveling operator for Duquesne Light Company, for which he earned 38 years of service before retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Irwin and could always be counted on to help friends, family and neighbors in need. He was an excellent cook, baker, talented artist and avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and especially hunting grouse in his favorite woods in Indiana County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Neil Mance and grandparents, Valentine and Rosa (Sajovitz) Mance and H. Glenn and Elva (Gress) Gongaware. He is survived by his wife, Diane Duffy Mance; children, Forrest and Elizabeth Mance of North Huntingdon; brothers, Val (Marilyn) of Sugar Loaf, Pa., Dale of Arizona; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA 15642. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
