Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | December 22, 2022
Vincent C. Johnson II, of South Park, died on Monday, December 19, 2022. He was born at Cherry Point Marine Corps base, Havelock, NC on October 24, 1987 and is the son of Cathy Lewis (Bob) Ciora of South Park and the late Vincent C. Johnson.
Vince was a true renaissance man, a servant of God, and a charismatic force of strength, charm and talent. He lived as a modern day Paladin, as he would put it. Lord Vincent, as his friends knew him, lived by a code to always do good, protect, and help those in need. If he saw a person struggling, he would drop everything and do all he could to help. It was his defining quality. Whether you were his lifelong friend (of which he has many) or a stranger in line at the store, Vince made it his goal to brighten your day and make you smile. And his smile brightened the world.
Vince loved to entertain his friends and family with colorful stories and music, playing the guitar, canjo and nearly any instrument he found, including a didgeridoo. Vince was a lover of nature and life. He spent much of his time hiking through South Park, fishing and foraging for wild mushrooms and the occasional treasured trinket. Vince enjoyed working at the local stables where he put his homesteading talents and love for animals to good use. Vince was a Delta Tau Delta brother at IUP and recently a student at All-State Career technical college, where he was studying welding. He was very excited for this new career (and not just to make a suit of armor!).
Vince had a genuine and loving relationship with his family. He was a beloved and amazing son, big brother, cousin, nephew, and Uncle. Uncle Vince, a title he was most proud of and honored with nobility and grace. In addition to his mother and step-father, Vince is survived by his sisters, Whitney (Daniel (DJ)) Restivo; Jenna Ciora; maternal grandmother (his favorite human being in the world) Jean Lewis; nieces, Rosalyn and Sophia Restivo; stepbrother, Erik Ciora; stepsister, Ariana Ciora and nephew, Jason McAndrews. Vince was known and loved by many, making a positive impact on everyone he met. He will be missed forever.
Vince was recently on the waitlist to donate bone marrow to a cancer patient in need, something he was proudly and anxiously waiting to do. For those wanting to pay tribute, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Bone Marrow and Cancer Foundation (click on the link to “Give a Gift in Memory or in Honor). It would make Vince smile his wonderful smile that others carry on his code of Do Good in This World.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 11:00 am at Wright’s United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road Venetia, PA 15367. All are welcome.
A burial was held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Lebanon Church Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Strifflers of Dravosburg/West Mifflin, Inc., 740 Pittsburgh McKeesport Blvd., Dravosburg, PA 15034 (412 678-6192).
