Eugene D. Sherpata, 82, of Clairton, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at his daughter’s home in Belle Vernon. Born June 19, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Sophie (Wozniak) Sharpeta. After graduating from Clairton High School in 1957, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of his service, he became an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for the next 50 years. He loved western and war movies but most of all couldn’t wait to watch the Steelers play. He spent countless hours building computers or playing video games. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family, whether it was a home project, cutting the grass, or just sitting outside talking and enjoying the weather.

He is survived by his 2 daughters Colleen Powell and Dana (Shawn Derienzo) O’Hara, both of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren Derrick Powell, Jacob Powell, Anthony Capane, Zachary Powell, Juliahna and Madisyn O’Hara; great-grandson Geno Powell; siblings Frances Jones, John Sharpeta, Jaqueline Sharpeta, and Cynthia Sierra; as well as nieces and nephews. Visitation for Eugene will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 5th. St., Clairton, PA 15025 (412-233-5700). A Blessing Service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Dale DiSanto officiating. Burial to follow at Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, PA.
