Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | March 14, 2023

Paul William Kerber, of North Huntingdon, passed away March 7, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 30 years to Lauretta (Horvat) Kerber; loving father of Paul J. Kerber, Philip Kerber, Sandy (Kerber) Coyne, Brenda (Mitch) Radella, and Donna Marie Kerber; proud grandfather of Katlyn (Morris) Lawson; brother of Ann (Jack) McWilliams, Walter “Dusty” (Karen) Kerber, Katie (the late Richard) Forsythe and Joseph (Kathleen) Kerber; brother-in-law of Catherine Kalas, Stephen (Sheri) Horvat, and Kathy Kerber; son-in-law of Margaret Horvat; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Paul was born May 15, 1940 in McKeesport, a son of the late Edward and Alvina (Hornfeck) Kerber and was also preceded in death by siblings Edward Kerber, Mary (the late John) Thornton, Raymond Kerber; two favorite aunts Mary Catherine Kerber and Mary “Minnie” Swartz; and his loyal bichon companion Maxine.

Paul lived his early years playing and working on the Kerber family farm which is now known as Kerber Dairy. Paul was the retired President and CEO of Kerber Landscaping, a successful commercial landscaping company located in Manor, PA. He was well-known for his hard work and dedication to his business throughout the tri-state area. His work ethic was the best of the best with that old school attitude. His famous saying was, “not bad for a poor farmer”. He could also often be seen from 1st Street, in his yard, cutting the grass on his tractor or hitting golf balls while wearing his baseball cap.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and vacationing with his family. He also had a talent for being able to build or fix anything, earning him the nickname of “MacGyver”. Paul was an honorary member of the WWW Club (Work, Work and More Work). Fondest memories from all his children are that no matter how busy and how long of a day he put in, he always made time for them and reminded them of how special they are.

Friends were received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday March 10 at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 11. For online condolences please visit www.snyderfuneralservices.com.
