Dwight LeRoy Hackett, 76, of Murrysville, went on to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday March 17, 2023 due to multiple health complications. He was a much loved musician, composer, arranger, pianist, teacher, and choir director.

He grew up in McKeesport and resided in Murrysville. He taught choral music at Norwin School District from 1969-1978 and at East Allegheny School district from 1990-2008 where he directed a few musicals. He was Minister of Music at Christian Fellowship Center/Living Waters Congregational Church from 1978-2020. He co-founded SyntheSound Studio a music recording studio instructing and producing there from 1978-1990. Dwight played French horn early in his career as an extra with the Pittsburgh Symphony and later as a freelance musician and also played with the Westmoreland Symphony which is where he met his wife Jan.

He taught privately, after retiring from teaching, at the Music Room in Irwin from 2009-2016 and at the I Am Music Academy as co-owner with his wife from 2009-2023. He taught piano-jazz and french horn. Dwight loved his farm, motorcycles, and sports cars.

He will be remembered by his creative and fun stories and personality. He was born April 10, 1946 in McKeesport, a son of the late Frank and Hilda (Sisler) Hackett. He is survived by his wife Janet, his daughter Joelene (Jason) Sturm, his grandchildren Levi “Ziggy” Sturm and London Sturm; his siblings Keith Hackett and Shelly (Preston) Futrell, sister-in-law Lois Esmark, and many nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life April 1st at Keystone Christian Church, 5875 Washington Ave., Export, PA 15632. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to Noon followed by musical performances, praise, worship, and personal comments from friends and family. Dwight asked Jesus into his heart early and rededicated his life in 1977. Please consider eternity with Jesus by asking him into your heart to be Lord of your life. The benefits are out of this world!!

In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to Keystone Christian Church who has been kind enough to provide space for the I Am Music Academy. The William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.snyderfuneralservices.com.
