Roger R. Ankney, age 79, of West Elizabeth, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Jefferson Hospital. An Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War, he retired as an industrial painter and supervisor for Avalotis Corporation in Verona. He was a member of Stephen Bayard Masonic Lodge 526 of Elizabeth and the Painter's Union. Born September 28, 1943 in Massena, NY, he was a son of the late Robert Howard and Helen (Lobonich) Ankney. He is survived by his daughter, Lori (Dave) Zelenko of Venetia; granddaughter, Macie (Andrew Puciata) Zelenko of Venetia; stepsons, Scott Pust, Michael (Mary) Pust, Dan (Judy) Pust, Dale (Renee) Pust and Doug (Shelly) Pust; brother, Wayne Ankney of Moyock, NC; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Merrill, Bobby and Richard "Dickie" Ankney. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 1 PM until the time of service at 4:30 PM with Rev. Jude Urso officiating.
