Mary (Tucci) Woody, 88, of North Huntingdon (formerly of East McKeesport) died April 24, 2023. She was born on February 11, 1935 and was a daughter of the late Leonard Tucci, Sr. and Mary (Venuto) Tucci. She was the beloved wife of Ronald J. Woody, Jr. for 60 years and was his 24/7 caretaker for 5 years prior to his death. She was the proud mother of Ronald Jay Woody (Marianne Ondeck Woody) of Murrysville and David Alan Woody of North Huntingdon. Mary was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Michael, Albert, Leonard, John, William and James. She was also preceded in death by sisters Louise Comunale and Edith Tucci. Surviving is a brother, Richard Tucci of North Huntingdon. She is also survived by close sisters-in-law; Sister Barbara Woody of Sisters of St. Francis in Syracuse, New York and Janet Woody of North Huntingdon. Mary was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in East McKeesport.

Mary was born in a large family and learned early in life that you needed to be responsible for yourself as well as help look after younger siblings. She was a real go-getter. At age 14, with working papers from school, she acquired a job at Balsamo's store in McKeesport. She said this helped with buying school clothes for the upcoming school year. She held that position every summer for four years.

Upon graduation from high school Mary pursued a secretarial career and began working at West Penn Power in Pittsburgh and Cabin Hill, Greensburg. She moved on to Secretary at U.S. Steel Braddock; Senior Secretary at Westinghouse Electric Ardmore Site; and Senior Administrative Secretary, Westinghouse Corporate Headquarters, Law Department Pittsburgh. That was a combined total of 30 years. Her work portfolio depicted her as a highly respected employee who presented an above average job. She was a self-taught, take charge person always ready to take on projects even if they were not in her realm of responsibility and always excelled. She held highly responsible positions and took much pride in her work. She set forth good work ethics for her sons Ronald and David who followed in her footsteps.

She was a very caring person and very devoted to her family. She enjoyed having family dinners, especially on the holidays. There were always feasts at the dining room table. She was a good cook and kept an impeccable home. She was a born organizer. One of her favorite things to do was dance. She met her husband at a dance on Christmas Eve in 1954 and they were married in 1956. One of their favorite times together was to dance to the music of live bands on Saturday nights at The Sub-Alpine Italian Club in Turtle Creek. They both were exceptionally good dancers. Mary had a lovely singing voice also.

She was the proud grandmother of her grandchildren: Kristen Lucas (lan) of Washington, DC; Lauren Shirey (Luke) of Greensburg; Megen Harmon (Keith) of Trafford; Stephanie Soule (Matthew) of Rhode Island; and Andrew Woody of Butler. She loved them very much and held tight bonds with them. In their younger days, they claimed Gramma's home was their home away from home. The holidays and sleepovers were very special to them, along with card games and bedtime stories. On Christmas Day her living room looked like a toy shop. They were the highlight of her life. Mary also had eight great grandchildren: Helen, Henry and Maren Lucas; Renee and Elliot Shirey; Bryce Harmon and Roman Templin; Sydney Soule.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends are welcome in the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Avenue, Wilmerding, PA 15148, 412-824-4332, on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1313 Fifth Avenue, East McKeesport, PA 15035 on Thursday at 10am. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.
