Edward Frank Benvin, age 97, of Oil City, formerly of North Versailles, died on Sunday, May 28, 2023. He was born in North Versailles on February 11, 1926 and is the son of the late John L. and Mary Lisac Benvin. He was also the husband of the late Doris May Crawford Benvin, who died on November 30, 1988.
Edward proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and later retired as a coordinator for Volkswagen of America. He was a member of the General Smedley D. Butler Post 701, White Oak American Legion, Mary Mother of God Parish, St. Robert Bellarmine Church, and a former Cub Scout leader. He is survived by his children, Stanley (Kimberly) Benvin of Oil City; Christine (Robert) Maglicic of Fort Pierce, FL; Deborah (Thomas) Novak of Yulee, FL; Pamela (Tony) Asti of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Christopher (Kristy) Novak; Keith (Amber) Novak; Robert (Rachel) Maglicic; Jamie (James) Macy; great-grandchildren, Ella Novak; Kennedy Novak; Gabriel Maglicic; Regan Macy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, Edward was preceded in death by his siblings, John Benvin; Anthony Benvin; Joseph Benvin; Rudy Benvin; Ann McDowell; and Mary Sabich. Family and friends will gather on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow.
