E. June (Plues) Johnston, 91, of North Huntingdon died Thursday October 20, 2016 at home. She was born March 19, 1925 in Rillton, a daughter of the late John and Bessie (Dempster) Plues. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband John M. “Jock” Johnston; her daughter in law Christine Painter Johnston, six sisters, and four brothers. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Irwin, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Happy Methodists.

She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Irwin Chapter No. 400, and the daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed card club at the Colonial Grille and playing bingo. She is survived by her sons, John M. Johnston Jr. and his wife Bernie and Thomas S. Johnston both of North Huntingdon; her grandchildren, Stephen Johnston and Vanessa (Jacob) Henry; her great grandchildren Isabella, Audrey, and Colton; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street Irwin, 724-863-1200. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bruce Judy, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Eastern Star services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to First United Methodist Church, Irwin or Norwin Community Resource Center.
