Frances "Cookie" V. Bindas, age 80 of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 in Jefferson Hospital. Born March 8, 1943 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late John F. and Barbara L. (Demchak) Popchak. A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church, Frances was a elementary school teacher at St. Clare Elementary, an assistent teacher at Mt. Lebanon Montessori, and opened and retired from the St. Clare Montessori. She was also a CCD teacher and director of religious education at the former St. Joseph's Parish. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael "Mickey" Bindas, who passed away on February 5, 1998, and her sisters Rose Marie Wilkerson and Sr. Barbara Popchak.

Frances is survived by her children Frank Bindas of Clairton, Jennifer (Gary, Jr.) Massaro of Elizabeth, Nathan (Megan) Bindas of Jefferson Hills, and Julie (Brian) Lindley of Eighty Four; her grandchildren Kevin Massaro, Alayna and Landon Bindas, Ava, Eli, Mya and Leo Lindley; her brother Robert J. Popchak; her brothers-in-law William Humanic and John Bindas; her close friend and cousin Aggie Bednarofsky; and also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 Fifth Street, Clairton, PA 15025 on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 10 AM in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church, 460 Reed Street, Clairton, PA 15025.
