Betty J. Santoline, age 89 of Clairton, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon.  Born January 30, 1934 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Angeline (Belcastro) Covelli.  A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church and the Sons of Columbus Santa Maria Council #4, Betty retired as a clerk for the City of Clairton Collections Department after a thirty year career.  

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry P. Santoline, Sr, who passed away September 15, 2015; her sisters Rosaria Cingle and Virginia Burens; and her brother Joseph Covelli.  Betty is survived by her children Harry P. (Linda) Santoline, Jr. of South Fayette, Sharon K. (John) Matz of Mt. Lebanon, and Jeffrey (Kathy) Santoline of Clairton; her grandchildren Kellie (William Jr) Passodelis, Kristen (Sean) Polosky, Joshua (Julie) and Stephen Matz, Michael (Melanie), Anthony (Natalie), and Garrett Santoline; her great-grandchildren Ava, Bella, and Gabriel Matz, Evelyn Santoline, and William III and Wyatt Passodelis; her siblings Alfred (Audrey) Covelli of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Antoinette Covelli of Pittsburgh; and also nieces and nephews.  Betty will always be remembered for her traditional Italian meals, including pasta every Sunday for her family and the “Feast of the Seven Fishes” on Christmas Eve.  She remained active with her Clairton High School reunion committee for her entire life, Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 Fifth Street, Clairton, PA 15025 on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 3 PM to 7 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 10 AM in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church 460 Reed Street, Clairton, PA 15025.  Procession and burial will follow to St. Clare Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in Betty's name should be made to Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, 139 Gill Hall Rd., Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 or the Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA, 1501 Reedsdale St., Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
