Gary John Walsh, age 68, of McKeesport, passed away on October 9, 2023. He was born in McKeesport on February 27, 1955 and is the son of the late Thomas Walsh and Shirley Hodge Braucher. Gary was a devoted individual who loved the Lord and was passionate about sharing his faith with others. He cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Gary had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke ready to bring a smile to people’s faces and his laugh was contagious. He was known for his unwavering support and willingness to help those in need. Gary shared a special bond with his daughter, going on road trips, attending sporting events, and worshiping the Lord together.
Outside of his professional life, Gary had various hobbies and interests. He found solace in fishing and it was his favorite thing to do. He had many fishing trips with his family and friends and normally out fished everyone and his friends nicknamed him the “Soldier” because of his time spent in the army and dedication to catching fish. He also enjoyed cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, attending McKeesport Tiger games, and going to see his nephew wrestle. Additionally, he had a special talent for tying his own fishing jigs. He also took pleasure in listening to Christian music and watching the Three Stooges.
Gary will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, including his daughter, Angela (Corey) Holsing of Elizabeth Township; brothers, Thomas Walsh of Hempfield Township; Jim (Carol) Walsh of Elizabeth Township; Elmer (Christine) Braucher of Port Vue; Kenny (Angie) Braucher of North Huntingdon; Dan Whitt of McKeesport; Lester (Janie) Whitt of East McKeesport; sisters, Bonnie (Larry) Dolton of North Huntingdon; Tammy (Mark) Braucher of White Oak; Kathleen (Mark) Fish of Manhattan Beach, CA; aunts, Lucy Hodge; Irene Hodge; and uncle, Cortney Hodge.
