Nellie (Kurzynski) Shurgot, of North Versailles, peacefully passed on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born on July 2, 1937 in Pozan, Poland, at the start of World War II. Nellie was the loving mother of Stephen (Paula) Shurgot. Adoring grandmother of Stephanie (Geremy) Goldstein and Jason Shurgot; great grandmother of Sebastian, Colin, and Peyton Goldstein. Nellie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, the extended Seese family, and all who loved her. She was preceded in passing by her husband Walter Shurgot, parents, Thomas and Julia (Bogucka) Kurzynski, brother, Joe Kurzynski, and sister, Stefka Rytel.

Nellie immigrated to the United States thru Ellis Island from Poland at the age of 15. She brought many delicious Polish recipes with her, that she shared with family and friends. She was known as “Nutroll Lady”. Nellie enjoyed trips to the flea market and the casino. She was a Game Show Network connoisseur in her spare time. Her greatest joy was her son was Steve, and family was her entire life.

Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, from Noon to 8pm at the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 11am. Nellie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Walter, at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville.
