Dennis Richard Halaszynski, Sr.

Dennis Richard Halaszynski, Sr., age 92, of McKeesport, died on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2023. He was born in McKeesport on January 5, 1931 and is the son of the late Thomas and Josephine Wisniewski Halaszynski. He was the husband of the late Mary E. Tobias Halaszynski, who died on January 13, 1988. Dennis proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Dennis retired as Captain of Detectives with the McKeesport Police Department. He was also employed at GM Fisher Body and Cox’s Department Store.

Dennis was a member of various organizations including the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #91, Renzie Seniors, AMVETS, Knights of Columbus, the former St. Pius V Church and Corpus Christi Parish in McKeesport. He also was a baseball coach for the McKeesport Baseball Association.

He is survived by his children, Dennis (Kathy) Halaszynski, Jr. of Prunedale, CA; Joel (Kathy) Halaszynski of McKeesport; David Halaszynski of McKeesport; Denise (Larry) Jablonski of Ligonier; Darlene (John) Brottish of Rostraver Twp.; Diane (Paul) Couch of Port Vue; Eric (Jennifer) Halaszynski of North Huntingdon; grandchildren, Dennis III; Bethany; Benjamin; Daniel; Kevin; Allison; Thomas; Erika; Christian; Mary; Cassandra; Vanessa; Emlie; great-granddaughter, McKinleigh; siblings, Earl (Janet) Halaszynski of Elizabeth; Joan (Michael) Burgos of White Oak; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dennis is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Carlie Kerklo; and siblings, Eleanor; Thomas; Mary; James; William; Joseph; Adam; Sister Jude; and John.

Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). There will be a FOP Lodge 91 service at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Divine Redeemer Motherhouse, 999 Rock Run Road, Elizabeth, PA 15037.
