Robert Honick, age 92, of Jeannette, PA, formerly of McKeesport, PA, died on Saturday, December 9, 2023. He was born in McKeesport, PA on July 24, 1931 and is the son of the late George and Mary Gray Honick, as well as his stepmother who raised him, Ruth Humphreys Honick. He was the husband of the late Margaret “Peg” Come Honick. Robert proudly served in the United States Army and later retired as a crane operator from US Steel Irvin Works. He was a longtime member of the General Smedley D. Butler Post 701, White Oak American Legion. He loved cars, bowling, and volunteering at UPMC McKeesport.
He is survived by son, Gary (Bonnie) Honick, Sr. of Jeannette, PA; grandchildren, Josh Honick; Gary Honick, Jr.; Angel (Troy Moulton) Honick; KC (Ariel) Gonzalez; Darrell Honick, Jr.; great grandchildren, Landon; Viamarie; Dannaka; and sister, Eileen (the late Don) Teyssier of Cecil, PA.
In addition to his parents and wife Robert was preceded in death by his children, Darrell Honick, Sr.; Susan Honick Painter; and siblings, Florence Degan; George Honick; Louise Honick; and Dorothy Lyon.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
