Karen Boyer Los, age 77, of North Huntingdon, PA, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. She was born in Wilkinsburg, PA on December 6, 1946 and is the daughter of the late Lester Carl and Mary Rita Conrad Boyer. She graduated from Penn Hills school district and earned a teaching degree at the University of Pittsburgh. She would go on to marry Bernard “Bernie” Leo Los, with whom she shared a 50-year anniversary in 2021 prior to his death in 2022.
In her professional life, she taught for many years spanning her time in New Castle, Indiana, and Pittsburgh at St. Sebastian on Mcknight Road. After her time teaching, she became a full-time mother, caring for her children, Heather Marie Lepore and Justin Andrew Los. Over this time, she would be Bernie’s partner in entrepreneurial ventures, including a Fox’s Pizza, Hare Salon, and eventually Los & Associates, their insurance brokerage firm that’s still around today.
In her youth, she also had pets that helped grow her love of animals, Lady and Mittens, a dog, and a cat. This love was translated into helping found and volunteering her time at White Oak Animal Safe Haven as the treasurer for many years.
Never one to crack under pressure, and sure of herself, she loved her family unconditionally, always putting them first, even above herself. She will join Bernie, Mary, Lester, Lady, and Mittens who have gone before her. She will be remembered lovingly by Heather and Justin as well as Heather’s husband, Brian, and her children, Sophia, Jack, and Max.
Friends and family will gather on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. A burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in North Versailles, PA.
