Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | February 20, 2024
Jean Agnes Lewis, age 96, died peacefully after a long, full life on February 19, 2024. She was born in McKeesport on February 26, 1927 and is the daughter of the late Neil and Henrietta McKenzie Middleton of McKeesport and sister of the late Neil “Skip” Middleton.
Jean was the wife of the late William J Lewis, and mother of the late Patricia Lewis, the late William “Bud” Lewis and Cathy (Bob) Ciora. Jean had three grandchildren whom she loved so very dearly; the late Vincent Johnson, Whitney (Daniel) Restivo, and Jenna Ciora. Jean also had three great-grandchildren; Rosalyn, Sophia and Penelope Restivo. All of her surviving loved ones were blessed with the opportunity to spend her last few days with her, and she too enjoyed their presence.
In such a long life, there is a lot of love, laughter, and tragedy. Jean Lewis had a lot of tragedy in her life, but remained a very strong, beautiful, and loving woman till the end. She was admired dearly by her children and grandchildren for her strength and loving nature.
Jean was recruited right out of high school by US Steel National Tube Works to work in the payroll department. She later resigned to raise her children and dedicate every bit of her life to them.
Jean was also an extremely talented artist. She shared that talent and taught those lessons to her children and grandchildren, all of whom appreciated the time on the back porch painting rocks with their Nana and art lessons at the dining room table. Because of that, her love of art and her talent will surely live on through her grand and great-grandchildren.
Jean will be remembered and loved always.
Family and friends will gather for a committal service on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Lebanon Chapel Mausoleum of West Mifflin, 2701 Old Elizabeth Road, West Mifflin, PA 15122. Entombment will follow. Arrangements are being handled by Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177).
