Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | April 11, 2024

Elizabeth "Betty Rae" Perrone, age 92 of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and her best friend on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.  Born August 6, 1931 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Grace (Cosanella) Perino.  Betty Rae owned her own beauty shop, worked her way up the ladder as an underwriter and eventual vice president at Housing Opportunity in McKeesport, and worked as a waitress and cook for her family's 5th. Ave. Cafe in McKeesport.  Often busy with work, she always found time to be a full time mother raising her son and eventually being an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren.  She will be remembered as the leader of her family who always put them first, a person who lived her life selflessly, an animal lover who continually looked after and took in strays, and the best woman she could be to her family.  They will miss her dearly.  Besides her parents, Betty Rae was preceded in death by her husband Armond Perrone, who passed away November 7, 1999, and her only sibling Joseph Perino.  She is survived by her son Armond Wayne Perrone (Patricia Katz) of Orlando, FL; her grandchildren (to whom she will forever be "GoGo") Ashley (Ryan) Hendrickson of Cecil Twp., Alyson (Matthew) Gillespie of Greentree, Armond Wayne Perrone, Jr. of Tallmadge, OH, and Anthony Perrone of Bridgeville; her great-grandchildren Cole, Carter, Griffin Rae, and Ella; Lisa Perrone -- mother to her precious grandchildren; and countless Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends, some of whom passed away and some of whom surviving, who she loved so much over the years.

Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132 (412-678-3454) on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 10 AM until an 11:30 AM Blessing in the funeral home with Deacon Dale DiSanto officiating.  Procession and entombment will follow to Jefferson Memorial Park in Pleasant Hills.  Betty Rae's family asks that any memorial donations in her name be made to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org  www.bekavacfuneralhome.com
