Wayne A. Reed Sr. age 77 of Irwin, died peacefully at Greene Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Greensburg on April 19, 2024. He was the son of the late Donald and Marie L. Reed. Wayne was the father of the late Wayne A Reed Jr. (who passed away December of 2023) and Vaughn Reed of Irwin, PA. Prior to retirement, Wayne worked for WABTEC and as a cook at Eat-n-Park. In the past Wayne liked reading Stephen King novels, watching horror movies and going to BINGO with his family. Wayne’s love for both domestic and wildlife animals will live on through his son Vaughn, bonus son Chester Frye of Mt. Pleasant, sister Cheryl (late Garry Buckholz) of N. Huntingdon, sister-in-law Betsy A. Reed (wife of the late Vaughn Reed) of Beatty, NV, nieces Christine (Jason) Baverso of N. Huntingdon, Shelly Buckholz of Youngwood, and nephew Russell (Anna Jean) Buckholz of Westmoreland City. In addition to five great-nephews (Jacob, Jayden, Jonah, Gage and Gunnar), and one great-niece (Liberty). Wayne will be laid to rest at Brush Creek Cemetery with his late wife Norma Jean (Plues) Reed who passed away in 1984 of breast cancer. The family wishes to express thanks to the staff of Greene Health and Rehab as well as Bridges Hospice. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, Pa on Wednesday from 4-7 P.M. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel.
