Carl O. Dickson Jr., 90, of East McKeesport, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024. He was born July 25, 1933 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Carl O. and Margaret (Weber) Dickson and was also preceded in death by his sister Janet D. Noel and brother in-law Wilbur “Bo” Swanhart. Carl was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Versailles, and was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He received a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and taught at Church Hill Area School District prior to his retirement. He was a member of VFW Post 5008, East Pittsburgh, and was a member of White Oak American Legion 701.

Carl was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting. He and his wife enjoyed couples bowling leagues, and traveling abroad together. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years Shirley Dickson; sister Nancy D. Swanhart; nieces and nephews Jennifer (D.J.) Mance, Barbara Reese, Paul Swanhart, Thomas Noel, and Ronald Noel; great niece and nephew Maria Mance and Max Mance. A funeral service was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kimberly Greway officiating.
