Janel (Perretta) Lavorini, 58, of North Huntingdon, Pa., formerly of New Brighton, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024.

Born September 28, 1965, in Rochester. She is the daughter of Joan (Treglia) Perretta Clark. She was a proud graduate of New Brighton High School, Class of 1983. It was during these formative years that her passion for visual communication and graphic design began to bloom. Fueling her artistic ambitions, she continued her education at the Art Institute in Pittsburgh, where she honed her craft and earned her degree in Visual Communications-Graphic Design. Driven by a desire to share her expertise and ignite the same passion in others, Janel furthered her studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), obtaining a Vocational Technical Education Degree for teaching.

Armed with knowledge and enthusiasm, she embarked on a fulfilling career journey. She was past State Officer of the Pennsylvania Jaycees, past member and officer of the Upper Beaver Valley Jaycees, and a member of the American Sewing Guild. Beyond talented, she loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, and crafting. She enjoyed getting together with friends who shared in her talents to work on projects, passions and enjoy being in their company.

In 1999, Janel found her professional home at Forbes Road Career Technical Center, where she served as an Advertising Design Instructor for over two decades. Her commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering creativity within her students was unwavering. Through her guidance, countless individuals discovered their own potential and found their voices in the world of design. Whether in the classroom, among colleagues, or within her community, she radiated positivity and empathy, making the world a brighter place for those around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Lavorini, loving partner, Sam Plazio, maternal grandfather, Tony Treglia, paternal grandmother, Annie Perretta, stepfather, Richard “Dick” Clark.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her dogs, Bella and Baylee “The Girls” who were the world to her; four siblings, Annamarie (Mike) Perretta Rosepink, Patsy Perretta, John Paul Perretta, and Toni (Eric) Jones; father-in-law, Nello Lavorini; nieces and nephews and niece, Lea (fur baby)

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20 from 5 PM until the time of her celebration of life service at 7 PM in J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave, New Brighton. Rev. Gregory Clagg officiating . An additional memorial service will be held in North Huntingdon at a later date.
