Robert J. Hankey, age 86 of North Huntingdon, passed away on September 7, 2024 at Harmony Physical Rehabilitation in Monroeville. He was born on November 11, 1937 in Ligonier, a son of the late Clyde Hankey and Daisy Hutchinson Hankey. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having retired after 20 years of service. He was employed as a Steel Mill Worker for U.S. Steel with over 30 years of experience. In his free time, Robert looked forward to riding motorcycles, water skiing and snow skiing. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia in 2016, and two brothers, Eugene and Charles Hankey. He is survived by one son, Robert Hankey (Carol), one daughter, Tammy Barlock (Timothy), one brother, Clyde Hankey (Pat), one sister-in-law, Doris Hankey, grandchildren Matthew Hankey (Christina), Lauren Hankey, and Tyler Barlock (Rachel), and his fiancee, Mary Ann Pici. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 3-7 PM at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 10 AM with interment to follow in Westmoreland Memorial Park.
