Stella E. "Buga" (Slavick) Smith, age 88, of Forward Twp., formerly of Elizabeth and West Mifflin, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Bethel Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She retired after 25 years as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Clairton then Elizabeth. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, baking, and trips to the casino with family and friends, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born February 17, 1936 in Elizabeth, she was a daughter of the late Paul M. and Stephanna (Anjeski) Slavick and wife of the late Francis Gilford "Smitty" Smith. She is survived by son, Ralph G. (Kathy) Smith of Forward Twp.; daughter, Kathy Smith of Forward Twp.; grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Michaels of Forward Twp. and Nicole Smith of Greensburg; great-grandchildren, Peyton Michaels, Easton Michaels and Xxaiver Grubbs; siblings, Joann Weiss of Jefferson Hills, Patricia Wedel of Pleasant Hills, George (Judy) Slavick of Elizabeth Twp. and Michael Slavick of Belle Vernon; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Robert P. Smith, and siblings, Mary Catherine Soukovich, Phyllis Martin, Margaret "Peggy" Roberts, Marion McKernan, and John, Joseph and Paul "Puddo" Slavick. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 10 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
