Alexander John “Sam” or “Shandor” Barna, age 66, of Eighty Four, PA, formerly of West Mifflin and Duquesne, PA, died on Monday, October 14, 2024. He was born in McKeesport, PA on April 21, 1958 and was the son of the late Elmer and Irene Catherine Buchton Barna. Alexander was a former member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in McKeesport, along with its Men’s Club and Choir. He was also very handy. He could fix anything that was broken and if it could not be fixed, he would build something new. God and his family were first and foremost in his life. However, his Harley and riding was a close second along with hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Maria Kavic Barna; children, Samuel Adam (Nicole) Barna of West Mifflin, PA; Steven (Jeana) Barna of Ellwood City, PA; grandchildren, Nathaniel Brian Barna; Sean (Nichole) Crawford; Madison Marie Barna; Kaitlin Sadie Barna; sister, Candy (the late William) Bowen of Belle Vernon, PA; sister-in-law, Patricia Kavic of West Mifflin, PA; aunt, Margaret (Don) Wolf of North Versailles, PA; and many cousins.
In addition to his parents, Alexander was preceded in death by his angel grandsons, Connor Benjamin Barna; and Spencer Roger Barna; and brother, Brian Andrew Barna.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Very Rev. Stavrophor Stevan G. Rocknage officiating. An entombment will take place at Lebanon Chapel Mausoleum of West Mifflin.
