Robert A. Bennett, age 76 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024 in the H.J. Heinz VA Center, Aspinwall.  Born October 9, 1948 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Shannon) Bennett.  Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years Linda (Hare) Bennett; his children Deanna (Bob) Schweikert of Cranberry Twp., Chad Alan Bennett of Ft. Myers, FL, and Mark Robert (Kristin) Bennett of North Huntingdon; his grandchildren Emma and Ella Schweikert and Janey and Ruby Bennett and Liam Bennett; and his sister Charlene (Albert) Voss of Mims, FL.  

Bob was a member of the Elizabeth Forward High School Class of 1966 and a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  He also served his country as a US Army - Aviation Branch Veteran of the Vietnam War.  Bob was a parishioner of Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Patrick's Church in Christy Park.  He was also active in scholastic and collegiate swimming, serving as a PIAA and NCAA swimming official, administrator of the Big East Championship Swim Meet, the vice president of the South Chapter of the PIAA Swimming Officials, and the co-organizer of the Elizabeth Forward Swim Club.  He also gave of his time to philanthropy, serving as president of the Central Elizabeth Lions Club and as treasurer of the Elizabeth Twp. Historical Society and the Greenock Log House.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, Versailles, on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM in Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Patrick's Church.  Procession and burial with military honors will follow to Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.   Memorial contributions in Bob's name should be made to the Elizabeth Twp.
