Dorothy Ann (Gida) Cortazzo, beloved wife of Joseph A. Cortazzo, died at home, Saturday, June 14, 2025. She was born January 9, 1937 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Kustra) Gida and grew up and lived her entire life in East McKeesport. She graduated from East McKeesport High School in 1954 and married the love of her life Joseph A. Cortazzo on October 15, 1955. They remained married, in love, and inseparable for almost 70 years. Dorothy was extremely energetic throughout her entire life and in addition to being an attentive and protective mother and loving wife, she was at various times a seamstress, factory worker, waitress, landscape engineer and self-taught carpenter.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings Louise Ryan and Walter L. Gida. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter Renee Cortazzo Sergeon and her husband Danny; her son Michael Cortazzo and his wife Nellie; her six grandchildren Natasha Cortazzo (Aaron Kish), Michael B. Cortazzo (Ashley), Kelly Cortazzo, Matthew A. Cortazzo, Caylin Cortazzo Hartley (Stephen) and Celine M. Cortazzo; a great grandson Aaron Joseph Kish; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated ay 10 A.M. Thursday in St. Angela Merici Church, White Oak. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, North Versailles.
