John Brooks Maloney, age 79 of North Huntingdon died September 16, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born September 20, 1945, in McKeesport, a son of the late Raymond and Ernesta Guardasoni Maloney. Prior to his retirement, John was employed by U.S. Steel National Works as a shipper and Camp Hill Steel as a relief foreman. Following retirement, John was employed as a bus driver for Norwin First Student where he was known as "Papa John." He was an avid hunter, an all-around handy man, and a good neighbor. A proud veteran, John served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Raymond (Dorothy) Maloney and his sister Elaine (Jack) Churchfield. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Darla Thorne Maloney. He was the loving father to his son David Maloney (Jessica), two daughters, Lori Hinish (Bill), and Shelly Maloney. He was loved and will be missed by his grandchildren, Melissa Hamilton (Heath), Jennifer Walley (John), Cooper Brooks Maloney, great grandchildren, Allie Mae and John William. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Sunday from 2-7 P.M.
