John A. Novak, Jr., age 68 of Elizabeth, died Thursday, December 29, 2016.  He was born in Pittsburgh on July 17, 1948 and was the son of the late Melda Smith Novak. He was a graduate of Point Park University, an entrepreneur, and a disabled veteran. He was a medic in the navy and served during the Vietnam Era.  He was a member of the Duquesne-McKeesport Lodge #731 F&AM where he was a Master Mason 3^rd Degree. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodcarving.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Rusnock Novak of Elizabeth; father, John A. Novak, Sr. of Pittsburgh; brother, William Novak, Sr. of Cranberry Twp.; nephew, William Novak, Jr. of Cranberry; also great-nephews and great-nieces.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5^th from 5:30 pm until the time of service at 7 pm at Striffler’s of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor, 412-678-6177) with a Masonic service following at 7:30 pm. Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Friday, Jan. 6^th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.

Remembrances may be made in John’s name to the Disabled American Veterans, 1000 Liberty Ave., Room 1606, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
