Ruth P. Jordon, of Braddock Hills, died Friday January 13, 2017, at home. Ruth was an English teacher for East Allegheny School District from 1968 to 1999. She had served as president of the East Allegheny Education Association and was a member of PSEA and the NEA. Ruth was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, Forest Hills. She attended St. Joseph’s Grade School, Braddock, and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Shadyside.

She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree and completed the required course work toward her Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. During her tenure as a teacher, she sponsored the student council and served as a class sponsor. She was a busy teacher that reviewed essays for college applications including resumes, coached students for speaking at graduation ceremonies, and mentored many new teachers and student teachers. She enjoyed traveling and had visited Scotland, Ireland, England, Italy, Wales, Russia, Germany, and Holland. She was born January 11, 1946 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Henry Matthew and Margaret (Quinn) Jordon and was also preceded in death by her brother Henry James Jordon. She was a granddaughter of the late Congressman and Mrs. James Leland Quinn. She is survived by her sister Clara A. Lengyel of NY, NY; her close cherished friend Sandra Kresovich; nieces and nephew Mary M. (Anthony) Corallo, Rachel (Kendel) Joyce, Dr. Clara Lengyel Kremenic, Nicholas Henry Lengyel, and Katie Jordon; great nieces Madeline Light, Ava Light, Emma Light, Claudia Zanzig, Cameron Eckley, and Elizabeth Corallo; also cousins and countless friends. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. Everyone will gather at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Forest Hills at 11 a.m. Monday for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
