She was a worldwide traveler, avid gardener, an avid reader, loved animals, and enjoyed belonging to the Gourmet Cooking Club. She was a member and active volunteer of the First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, volunteered for the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, and the Norwin Public Library. Gail is survived by her husband Charles “Chuck” Cortese; and her daughter Shannon N. (Keith) Bartholomai, South Connellsville; a sister Sheryl (Bob) Demko; sister in-law Louise Butler, Flora “Sis” Cortese and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, with Rev. Ronald H. Wakeman officiating. Interment will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery.
