Sophia E. Slavick, age 93 of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Hallsworth House Personal Care Home in Monessen. Born March 21, 1924 in New Salem, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie (Jedynak) Grayson.

A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish and the former St. Joseph's Parish in Clairton, where she was a former Eucharistic Minister, Sophia loved crocheting, cooking, doing puzzles, playing cards with her grandchildren, and was an all-in-all amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Slavick, Sr., her son Bernard S. Slavick, and her siblings: Stanley, Martin, and John Grayson, Catherine Stang, and Rose Soltis. Sophia is survived by her sons George M. (Rose) Slavick, Jr. of Monongahela and Richard (Lisa) Slavick of Newport News, VA; her grandchildren Tracy (Gary) McClusky, Nickie (Mike) Campbell, and Brian, Brittany, and Dylan Slavick; her great-grandchildren Nathan, Natalie, Michael, Hanna, Alexis, Abigail, George, Katie, Allison, Madison, Anna, Daniel, Tristan and Trentan; her great-great grandchildren Cruz, Elena, Jessalyn, Levi, and one more on-the-way; her sister Phyllis (Gerald) Tansky of Elizabeth; and also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 5th. St., Clairton, PA 15025 (412-233-5700) on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10 AM in St. Clare of Assisi Church.
