Mark S. Booth, age 70, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at HCR Manor Care Bethel Park. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1966, he grew up in Pleasant Hills. In 1967-68, Mark served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Afterward, he worked at the former National Carbide Die Company in Versailles for 35 years. In 2005, Mark became a single lung transplant recipient, surviving for 12 years. He was a loving father and grandfather, a favorite uncle, a best friend — a mechanically gifted man who was also a lover of building and riding motorcycles.
On August 3, 1947, Mark was born the third of four children to parents James Ellwood and Delphine Cole Booth. Mark is survived by his spouse, Carol Ann Persichetti Booth, residing in Elizabeth Twp. for 45 years; their children, Miriam (Todd) Moules and Dean (Dr. Christine) Booth of Cleveland; his grandchildren, Elisabeth and Eric Moules, and Sarah and Simon Booth; sister, Marjorie Booth of Pleasant Hills; brother, Dr. James C. Booth of Ruland, VT; nieces and a nephew; and many cousins and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents; his grandparents, Jesse and LuLu Booth, and Lillian and Newton Cole; and his sister, Diana Booth Simms. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth. The family suggests any monetary donations be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America (vva.org/donate/).
