Kathleen T. (Schmittlein) Brown, 53, of Herminie, died at home, Thursday March 10, 2016. She was born March 12, 1962 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Theresa (Mancine) Schmittlein of Latrobe and the late Raymond Schmittlein. She was an employee of Hillview Motors, Greensburg.

Kathy loved animals, especially birds, gardening, the mountains, and camping. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by a son, Donald Brown. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband of twenty two years, D. Scott Brown; her granddaughter, Lissa Brown; her granddaughter’s mother, Marie George; a brother, Raymond Schmittlein of Ellicott City, MD; a sister, Mary Ann (Gary ) Halula of Latrobe; nephews, Michael, Matthew, and Jacob Halula, and Sean McLaughlin; and her loving dog and companion Cedric. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a Blessing service will follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to Action for Animals, 386 State Rt. 217, Latrobe PA 15650 or Excela Hospice, 134 Industrial Park Rd., Greensburg, PA 15601.
