Steve C. Kertis, age 89 of West Mifflin, died Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was born January 22, 1928 in McKeesport, the son of the late Stephen and Anna Kertis and husband of the late Sarah Rose Bowers Kertis.  He served in the US Army during WWII in the Philippines and Pearl Harbor.  He was employed at US Steel Christy Park Works until he retired then became an optician. He was also a member of the White Oak American Legion Post #701.

Steve is survived by his son Stephen T. (Erika) Kertis of McCordsville, Indiana, daughters; Kathleen A. Hawk of White Oak, Donna M. Yuhasz of Duquesne, grandchildren; William Hawk III, Heidi, Christina, Daniel J., Catherine, Daniel M. Kertis, great grandchildren; Alex, Adam, Ben, Chandler, Gered, Laura, Anna Rose, Ethan, Reese, and Denali, brother; Edward (the late Nancy) Kertis of West Mifflin, sister; Marjorie (the late Johnny) Vukovic of West Mifflin, nephews; John and Gary Vukovic and Jeff, Ronald and Dennis Vukovic.  

He was a loving husband and father.

 Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 30th from 10 am until 1:30pm at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor 412-678-6177) followed by a blessing service in the funeral home chapel with Father Kevin Dominik officiating.

Burial will follow at Round Hill Cemetery.
