Reverend John Herbert Stubbs, 75 years old, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.  Rev. Stubbs of North Huntingdon, PA, formerly of Herminie #2, was born on August 3, 1942 in McKeesport, PA, son of the late John and Sue (Jones) Stubbs.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret V. (Westfall) Stubbs; and his two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie (Donald Sr.) Rhodes and Mrs. Betty (Mischa) Stares.

He graduated from Sewickley Senior High School, Class of 1960.  He then entered and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and American History.  Being called by the Lord, Rev. Stubbs entered the ministry.  He attended and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Dayton Theological Seminary.  While there, he was a member of their concert choir and was a soloist.  His love and devotion for Christian music provided him the opportunity to minister as soloist in many local churches and sing in Chancel choirs.  Rev. Stubbs entered the ministry with the United Methodist serving churches in northern Pennsylvania.  In 1994 he transferred to the Church of the Nazarene denomination and retired in 2005. For a full year, Pastor Stubbs was doing Pulpit Supply at Scottdale Church of the Nazarene until he became ill.

He was a member of the Penns Woods Civic Association and enjoyed the Penns Woods Senior activities.  He was a longtime member and a very successful member of the Irwin and Herminie TOPS Club. 

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Janet (Switzer) Stubbs; three stepchildren, Wendy M. Yedlick, Adam (Katie) Switzer and Jennifer (Paul) Goldstrohm; five grandchildren, Bradley Switzer, Jack Switzer, James F. Yedlick IV, Emily Yedlick, Liam Goldstrohm; and two infant granddaughter’s due in March 2018.  He is also survived by one nephew and four nieces; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by a very special "sister", Janice.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.  Additional viewing will be held on Friday in the Norwin Church of the Nazarene from 10 - 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.  Interment will take place in Mt.
