Carl Allan Griffith, age 63 of South Park and formerly of Port Vue, passed away at his daughter's home surrounded by his family on Friday, April 6, 2018. Born September 11, 1954 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Harry L. and Katherine (Rodehaver) Griffith. The owner/operator of Griffith Auto Sales and Neighborhood Dollar Store, both in McKeesport, Carl also worked as the head body man at John Naretto Buick and White Oak and Bowser Pontiac and also as an insurance adjuster.
He was an avid auto enthusiast his whole life, especially Corvettes. His family will remember him as loving and friendly, always there to support them as he attended his daughter’s events and games and even helped coach. He also was active in his community, sponsoring local youth baseball and softball teams and donating a hundred smoke detectors to needy McKeesport families through the McKeesport Fire Department. Carl is survived by his daughter Chastity (Ed) Gavalek of West Mifflin; his grandchild Dakota Hobby; his step-grandchildren Michael and Conrad Gavalek; his brother and best friend Harry R. "Bun" (Marie) Griffith of Dravosburg; his brother-in-law John Scott; his nieces and nephews Johnny, Christa, Harry, William, Kyle and Victoria; his companion Darcy Fitzgibbon; and his friends and huge helps Jeff and Kathy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Rita Scott. Carl's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Three Rivers Hospice for their exemplary care. Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132 (412-678-3454) on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 12 Noon with Pastor Jason Schweinberg officiating. Interment will be private.
