Chester Edward (Spychala) Spiegel, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born February 6, 1932 in McKeesport to the late Julius and Mary Kepka (Spychala) Spiegel. He is the husband of the late Phyllis Abraitis Spiegel. Chester was a lifelong member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church (now Corpus Christi Parish) in McKeesport. He served in the US Army during the Korean War in Germany. After graduating from McKeesport High School in 1950 he worked until his retirement in the shipping department at U.S. Steel National Tube Works in McKeesport. He was a member of the American Legion Post 701 in White Oak, the Polish National Alliance Lodge 352 in McKeesport, the Croatian Club Lodge 146 in Versailles, the Mon Yough Church Dartball League for Christy Park UMC, and the Glassport Lanes Duckpin Bowling League. Chester loved all Pittsburgh sports teams and most especially the McKeesport Tigers. He also loved to watch his grandchildren in all their different activities, and to travel and hit the casinos.

Chester is survived by a daughter Melissa Awenowicz of Irma, SC; a son Erik, and his wife Keli, of Penn Township; grandchildren Benjamin and Sarah Awenowicz and Joshua and Jordan Spiegel; a sister, Rose Sedney, of Beaver Falls; brothers, Walter Spiegel, of North Huntingdon, and Joseph (Theresa) Spiegel, of Key Largo, Fla.; He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved and adored him. He was preceded in death by sisters, Helen, Sophie and Stella; and brothers, Chuck, Frank and Edward.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor, 412-678-6177) on Tuesday from 4-9 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at Corpus Christi Church with Father Kevin Dominik officiating.
