Walter Herman Worsham, 88, of Statesville, NC passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 in his home. Born November 12, 1927 in Tacoma Park, MD, he was a son of the late Lewis Elmer Worsham, Sr. and Irene Lena Worsham.

A Korean War Veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Mississippi, Mr. Worsham was a retired golf professional -- including service at the Youghiogheny Country Club in Elizabeth Twp. -- and a Century Member of the PGA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty and their son, Mark along with three brothers, Bubby, Lew, and Buck. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Love Worsham, children: Laurie Fox (Warren), Bryan Worsham (Gary Craig), Linda (Bob) Bennett, Elaine Martin, Jim Hare, Tim Hare and Nancy Savini. Also surviving are a sister, Uva Mae Cable, a devoted niece, Judi Stilwell (Aris) and eleven grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Nicholson Funeral Home, 135 E. Front St., Statesville, NC 28677 from 1 PM until a 3 PM Funeral Service celebrating Mr. Worsham's life with Rev. Ervin Jones officiating. Service will take place in Jefferson Memorial Park, Mausoleum Chapel on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 1 PM with Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Military Honors will follow. Memorials may be given to the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Children or the Buddy Worsham Memorial Scholarship Fund at Wake Forest University, 499 Deacon Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
