Donald J. Turek, Sr., age 70, of West Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at home. He was a retired funeral director with the William H. Craig Funeral Home in McKeesport and worked for various funeral homes in the area. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a former member of the VFW Post #803 in Clairton and a member of St. Isaac Jogues Church in Elrama, the Elrama Sportsman’s Club and the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA). He was an avid metal detector and enjoyed various outdoor activities.

Born March 21, 1948 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Joseph and Delores “Dolly” (Michaels) Turek. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary I. (Supernovich) Turek; daughter, Amy L. (Jeffrey) Rhodes of Elizabeth Twp.; sons, Donald J. Turek, Jr. of West Elizabeth and Dennis M. (Melissa) Turek of Sutersville; grandchildren, Hannah Marie and Noah William Rhodes, Sarah Mae, Donald J., III, Rayli, Hunter and Alexis Turek; sisters, Ruth (Paul) Williams of Finleyville and Adele Turek of Clairton; also, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 6-8 PM and Thursday, September 6, 2018 form 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A mass of christian burial will take place on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11:30 AM in St. Isaac Jogues Church with the Rev. Richard J. Tusky officiating. Burial with committal service and military honors will take place on Friday at 1:30 PM at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
