Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | May 05, 2020

Nancy A. Krupa, age 77, of Monroeville; formerly of East McKeesport and Corry, PA passed away on May 2, 2020 after a nine-year battle of mental and physical decline due to Alzheimer’s disease. Born March 28, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Walter & Gladys Krupa. Nancy and her husband, Eugene “Red” Haynes owned and worked at their company, Kory Builders, as general contractors for 27 years. Initially, Nancy physically worked alongside her husband on the jobs; but as the company grew, she worked in the office managing the company’s operations and overseeing the jobs. During that time, Nancy was an active member of the East Allegheny Business Association and also on the board. Nancy was a strong, independent woman who enjoyed working in the man’s world of construction. Nancy and Red also enjoyed traveling across the country on their motorcycles and were married for 33 years until Red’s death in 2006.

Prior to her marriage, Nancy earned a doctorate from Carnegie Tech and was a home economics teacher. She was an avid dog lover and especially loved her many Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Over the years, she bred and proudly showed her dogs throughout the Tri-State area. She enjoyed entering her Ridgebacks in lure coursing competitions, placing 1st and coming home with many ribbons and prizes. Nancy was a member and former officer of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States. She also enjoyed gardening and had the most colorful container flower garden in the neighborhood. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her sister Linda Krupa. She is survived by friends and cousins. A heartfelt thank you to Nancy’s caregivers, nurses and staff over the past nine years; and more recently, to the entire hospice staff who also provided her care over the last year and a half. Due to the pandemic, viewing was private at Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home in East McKeesport (in the room addition constructed by Kory Builders). Burial was at Grandview Cemetery in North Versailles. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Ma’s Pantry, P.O. Box 1, East McKeesport, PA 15035 or Corry Area Food Pantry, 1318 West Main Street, Corry, PA 16407.
