Evelyn (Bubbie) Yonek Gooch, age 95 of Port Vue, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tues., Oct. 27, 2020. She was born in McKeesport on Feb. 28, 1925 to the late John Yonek and Susan Mross Yonek. She was the wife of the late Paul Gooch.After her children were grown, she enjoyed making hoagies at Fuzzy's and catering for Joe Winzek's in Glassport. She loved spending time and cooking for her family, traveling, casinos, crafts, crocheting and especially spending winters in Arizona.
She was the founding member of the Vermont Avenue Card Club where they shared many fun-filled memories. "Bubbie" lived her life to the fullest and always had room in her home and in her heart, especially at the dinner table for friends and family.
She is survived by her daughters Dolores (Bill) Urbansky of Sun City, AZ, Susan (John) Spanbauer of Port Vue, Paula (Casey) Sleva of Mount Pleasant and son Paul (Sally) Gooch of North Huntingdon; grandchildren Megan (Jim) Spanbauer, JP (Leilah) Spanbauer, Lauren (Derrick) Chan, Joshua Sleva, Jeffrey Gooch, Sarah (Shawn) Wilke, Will Gooch; great grandson Cameron Chan; brother Dr. Frank A. (Karolyn) Yonek and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law George and Joseph Shimko, for whom she was caregiver; siblings Margaret Ihnat, Elmer Yonek, Mildred Zellick, Elsie Guy, Thelma O'Toole, Marian Bartko, John Donald Yonek and Julia Gruber.
Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be Sat., Oct. 31, 2020 at 12:30 pm at Queen of the Rosary Parish in Glassport. Friends are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing at the church. Interment will be private at Round Hill Cemetery. For her love of children, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Heartland Hospice Care, 3520 State Route 130, Irwin, Pa 15642.
