Junius “Jay” Breitinger, 74, of Irwin, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020.
He was born October 1, 1946 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the son of the late Harry and Anna Louise (Meadows) Breitinger. Jay was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church, Sewickley Township, and a proud Navy veteran that served during the Vietnam War. Throughout his working life Jay was a police officer in Washington D.C., a steel worker for U.S. Steel, McKeesport, and a truck driver for Munson Trucking.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and celebrating the 4th of July with family enjoying fireworks. Jay liked traveling, and took many trips visiting Kentucky and enjoyed good Kentucky Bourbon.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his son Jason Breitinger and his brother Ray Breitinger. He is survived by his loving wife Janet (Ogg) Cody-Breitinger, his children Jamie Breitinger of North Huntingdon and Andrea (Jeff) Crisp of Irwin; grandchildren Alyssa, Anna, Julia, Jakob, Roger, and Jocelyn; and his nephew John Breitinger.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday, at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 A.M. Monday at Mars Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Richard Countryman officiating. Those visiting are required to abide by Covid–19 protocols.
