Gerald Nevin Paul, 76, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday , December 27, 2020 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital due to complications of Covid-19. He was born March 23, 1944 in North Huntingdon, a son of the late Earl Nevin and Lena Clara (Viano) Paul.

Jerry was a 1962 graduate of Norwin High School. He served in the National Guard and was employed by the Elliot Company in Jeannette for 38 years. His love of music and records, particularly “oldies”, led him to a second job as a DJ for special events. He was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, Irwin. He loved the simple things in life – a good meal, coffee after dinner, and time spent with his family.

Jerry was an avid runner for years and played baseball as a child and young adult, and he enjoyed participating in the Norwin Adult Softball League more recently. Jerry coached many youth basketball teams and was a passionate supporter of local sports. He enjoyed frequent walks to Irwin to get soup from his favorite spot, he never passed on ice cream, he listened to his favorite AM radio stations, and he loved watching sports on TV. Jerry had an appreciation for the library as he spent many hours reading hundreds of books over the years. He is survived by his wife Carol A. (Phillips) Paul; daughters Sharon L. (Nathan) Welty of Greensburg and Susan C. (James) Battista of Pittsburgh, and his son Stephen (Kaelyn) Paul of Pittsburgh; grandsons Shane P. Welty and Reid J. Welty; his sister Naomi D’ Alesandro of North Huntingdon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin, 724-863-1200.

While Jerry would love nothing more than his loved ones sitting around drinking a gin and tonic while laughing through their tears together, we implore everyone to follow the Covid-19 safety guidance. Funeral services and interment will be private.
