Jerrie Lee (Richey) Guldin, 77, of Irwin, peacefully passed away January 19, 2021 with her two sons by her side. She was born May 25, 1943 in Pittsburgh.
She was the beloved mother of Scott (Colleen) Guldin and Eric (Dina) Guldin. She is survived by her grandchildren, Hannah, Mary, Gabriella, Emma, and Bryce Guldin; best friend and sister Carole (Jack) Rayburg, and brother David Richey Sr., including many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Along with her extra children, Ronald (Renee) Howard Jr., John (Rachel) McGurk Jr., the late Charles Burkhart and many others who fondly called her “Mama G.” She was preceded in death by her parents Clifford W. and Lois C. (Graham) Richey and husband David R. Guldin. Always leading a conversation with a compliment, she impacted many lives through her dedication, generosity, and wisdom.
A graduate of Hempfield Area High School and Clarion University where she earned a BS in Education; and became a proud member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She joined the work force as a teacher for both Norwin and Hempfield School Districts.
The next 29 years were spent as the Emergency Department Coordinator at Jeannette District Hospital. She was a member of Brush Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the choir throughout her life. She once sang with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at a Christmas program while in college. She was also a member of St. Edward’s Church choir.
Always helping others, she served as a den mother while her sons were in scouts and as president of Hempfield Football Parents Club. Alongside her sister Carole, she cared for many children as her own at The Rayburg Family Day Care for many years. Throughout her career, she made many friends whom she loved dearly.
Everyone she knew was considered to be family. As she faithfully followed her granddaughters across the country for many all-star and high school cheerleading competitions, and grandson’s sporting events; she became a familiar face in the crowd on her scooter. Now Grandma Guldin’s scooter has gained angel wings to carry her home.
