Zita Kovaly, age 98, of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016.  She was born in New Castle on March 14, 1918, and was named by her mother, after the last empress of Austria, “Princess Zita”.  She is the daughter of the late Stephen and Regina Gjalapa Serbic and the wife of the late George Kovaly.

She is survived by son, Brian G. (Mary Ann Matey) Kovaly of West Mifflin; grandchildren, Bethany (PJ) Canavan of Elizabeth, Katie (Roger) Spreen of Columbus, Ohio, Keith (Jessica) Kovaly of West Mifflin; great-grandchildren, Mason and Stella Canavan; sister-in-law, Irene Kovaly of West Mifflin; numerous nieces and nephews; she is preceded in death by sister, Longina Cirillo; and brothers Thomas, Mack and John Serbic. 

Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor, (412-678-6177) on Friday, July 22, 2016, at 12:00 Noon with Fr. Kevin Dominik officiating.  Burial will follow.  Condolences may be made at www.strifflerfuneralhomes.com.
