Mary F. Pavlik, 89, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully in Corry, PA on Thursday, April 15, 2021. She was born in the Pittsburgh area to Eastern European immigrants, the late Andrew and Verna (Bence) Hritz. Mary and her late husband, John built their lives in North Huntingdon where they raised their family. Mary was a devoted wife and mother, teaching her children according to God’s word, instilling in them a love for God and family, the importance of a good education and the value of hard work.
Mary could be found volunteering at church, and served as Eucharistic Minister for St. Agnes church for many years. Mary was a member of several ladies’ groups at church, and also took communion to the ill and elderly in the community as well as to residents of local nursing homes. She is fondly remembered for her Eastern European cheregi pastries that she and her late husband John would make together and deliver in person to friends and family. Mary never shied away from helping family or friends, and was a wonderful, giving, caring and kind soul. Her presence will be forever missed by her daughter, two sons and daughter-in-law as well as by countless friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Pavlik. She is survived by her sons, John D. Pavlik and his wife, Val, James D. Pavlik; daughter, Andrea Pavlik; sisters, Florence Yackovich and Vern Gadjos. Friends will be received on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
