Thomas D. Bonner Sr., 80, of Irwin, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021.  He was born October 1, 1940 in McKeesport, a son of the late James Bonner.  Prior to his retirement, Tom worked for US Steel Irvin Works for 40 years and was a graduate of Clairton High School.  He was a member of St. Edward Parish in Herminie,  played for Norwin Senior Softball team for seven years, was a foster parent for 15 years, and loved to fish.  He had a kind soul and a warm heart to all he met and a great sense of humor.  Tom was very handy and could repair or build just about anything.  He will be reunited with his true love, Carole.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carole Bonner and daughter, Renee Bonner.  He is survived by his son, Thomas D. Bonner Jr. and his fiancee, Andrea Bagay; two grandchildren, Leah Marie Bonner and Venessa (Keith) Franks; five great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Ronald Bonner and his wife, Diane; sister, Judy Mollozzi; numerous nieces and nephews; and his grand fur babies, Huntington, Amillie and Pepper.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon.  A blessing service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m in the funeral home chapel.  Interment to follow Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a pet charity of your choice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com
