Jane Louise (Harrison) Strong, 80, of Carlisle, formerly of Shafton, North Huntingdon Township, passed peacefully on the morning of September 20, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born October 6, 1940 in Braddock, the devoted daughter of Albert E. Harrison and Dorothy Marie (Buchanan) Harrison. Jane Louise grew up in North Versailles, graduating from Westinghouse Memorial High School in 1958. She then attended Shadyside School of Nursing earning her Registered Nurse credentials in 1961 and devoted her life to nursing with her eventual retirement from Family Home Health Services, Monroeville, where she was the Director of Restorative Services.
During nursing school Jane Louise met the love of her life, James Lee Strong (Johnstown, PA) and they were married on September 9, 1961. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this month.
She is survived by her husband Jim, two children, Kimberly (Rich) Capozzi of Shippensburg, James D. (Page) Strong of Dover, PA. Jane Louise was blessed with four grandchildren. Dr. Joshua A. Capozzi DMD and his wife Ashley of Mechanicsburg, Justin R. Capozzi and his wife Becca of Falling Waters, WV, Lily Maria Strong, Emma Jane Strong; and two great grandchildren, Olivia Grace and Luca James Capozzi. She was preceded in death by her beloved dog Skylar (Skye) and survived by Storm and Puddles. Jane Louise enjoyed many pastimes, but mostly gardening and decorating. She was an avid reader and Yankee Candle, and QVC devotee.
Private viewing will be held at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. Private interment will be in Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville.
