After a courageous battle with cancer, Joyce (Phillis) Gibson Link left this world to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Hope House Hospice in Cape Coral Florida. One doctor described her as a “Warrior”. Joyce was an active member of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church and prior to that she belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Clairton. She worked at Three Rivers Bank in Jefferson Hills for over 20 years and in 2001, retired to Florida. She was unable to sit idle, so she went to work in the Cape Coral Walmart for another 16 years. She was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed cheering them on, so much so that on her final day on this earth she told her doctor that she might try out for the quarterback position. She was a kind, loving, caring, and giving Christian woman who left her mark on many. Born February 7, 1938 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late V. Blanche Phillis and Dene B. Phillis and wife of the late Jay F. Link. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Edward Dene Gibson and wife Debra of Jefferson Hills; three grandchildren, Justin Dene Gibson (Beth), Carly Lynne Coleman (Bobby) and Edward M. J. Gibson; eight great-grandchildren, Thomas “T.J.” Wintermyer, Dylan Gibson, Anthony Kobelak, Micayla Kobelak, Cameron Gibson, Jordan Gibson, Declan Hanratty and Harvey Gibson; sister, Jene Phillis Walker (Bobby) of Richmond VA; many cousins, nieces and nephews; her close friends in the Ladybugs bible study group; as well as Keefe and Mona Morabito and Cheryl Scott who were always there at her side in both good times and in her times of need. A memorial service will take place in Florida on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10 AM in the Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, 4118 Coronado Pkwy, Cape Coral, FL. A local memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11 AM in the Elizabeth United Methodist Church, 317 S. 2nd Avenue, Elizabeth, PA. In lieu of floral donations, please consider making a donation in Joyce’s name to any local animal shelter. Arrangements by the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
